Since late August, scammers have been emailing businesses whose websites we built, pretending to be Jeremy Dawes or Jez North Web. The emails come from Gmail addresses, warn of a "WordPress platform update deadline" and ask for a payment, usually around $350 by "payment link".
How to tell it is not us
- We only email from @jezweb.net, @jezweb.com.au, @jezweb.au or @jeznorthweb.com.au. Never Gmail.
- We never send payment links for updates or "compliance". Our invoices come from Xero with your account details on them.
- We do not set deadlines or threaten that your site will be "flagged".
If you get one
Do not reply, do not pay, block the sender, and forward it to help@jezweb.net so we can report it. If you have already paid, call us on 0455 029 199.
What we have done
We have reported the addresses to Google and Scamwatch. Nothing on your website has been touched; the scammers only read the "site by" credit in website footers, which we are now removing from client sites.
